Reuters - 52 SEOUL, Nov 25 - The won <KRW=> rose up to 2.9 percent against the dollar early on Tuesday as a U.S. government decision to rescue Citigroup boosted appetite for risk assets such as South Korean shares.
The won was quoted at 1,477.4/8.1 per dollar as of 0005 GMT, compared with Monday's domestic close <KRW=KFTC> of 1,513.0, the lowest local finish since March 1998. It gained to as high as 1,469.8.
Seoul shares <.KS11> jumped 5.19 percent as foreign investors bought a net 11.9 billion won worth of stocks in the country's main exchange.
