Linda Young - AHN Editor Seattle, WA (AHN) - More rain is expected to fall in Washington state causing more flooding before rains subside on Friday, according to forecasts.
Warm rains are causing snow to melt in the mountains and eastern Washington, adding to the flooding.
Another 4 to 8 inches of rain is expected on the coast and Cascades through Wednesday night with 1 to 3 inches expected elsewhere in western Washington, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
The drenching rains are causing more than flooding. They also bring a threat of causing landslides and avalanches as well, forecasters say.
A National Weather Services forecaster said it will probably be one of the area's major weather events in the past 10 to 15 years.
Forecasts predict major flooding for various rivers. That includes the Tolt River near Carnation, the Snoqualmie River near Carnation and Snoqualmie Falls, the Skagit River near Concrete and Snohomish River near Monroe.
